HAYNES Heating & Cooling is Harnessing the Earth’s Energy

Mark Sawyer - Ground Source Heat Pump CertifiedSeptember 27, 2013 – Mark Sawyer, HVAC Systems Specialist for HAYNES Heating & Cooling, has received certification in Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) system installation. Ground Source Heat Pump systems (GSHP) use modern technologies to harness the stored energy of the greatest solar collector in existence: the earth.

Hard work and extensive training resulted in Sawyer’s designation as a NATE Certified / IGSHPA Accredited Installer. He was certified in September, by the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA). His expertise benefits the Asheville area by giving the community an opportunity to experience GSHP technology. Steve Warner, Vice President of HAYNES Heating & Cooling said, “Mark’s certification brings a new level of knowledge and service to our customers and to the community. He is a valued member of our Heating & Cooling team.”

Geothermal systems are perfect for homes, apartment complexes, businesses, schools and more. In addition to heating and cooling, GSHP’s can also provide free or substantially reduced cost hot water. Installation trainees like Sawyer learn about the design and installation of ground heat exchangers, which are the basis of GSHP systems. During the winter, water or an antifreeze/water solution is circulated through buried pipe, collecting heat from the earth and transporting it into the building. During the summer, the system cools the building by reversing itself; collecting heat from the building and transporting it back to the earth.

For more information on this durable, low-maintenance, economic and environmentally-friendly alternative to conventional heating and A/C, contact HAYNES Heating & Cooling at (828) 254-6141 or www.igshpa.okstate.edu. Engineering News-Record (ENR.com) Ranks MB HAYNES 223 Out of the Top 600 Specialty Contractors in the Nation

On October 12, MB HAYNES was notified, by Engineering News-Record Magazine (ENR.com), that they had been ranked number 223 out of the top 600 specialty contractors in the nation. This ranking was based on construction revenue in 2011 from specialty contracting in a prime or subcontracting capacity.

The article, accompanying the Top 600 List, applauded companies with the foresight and staying power to weather the economic downturn. The article stated, “Companies that have trained themselves for downturns have managed to keep plugging away, pacing themselves until they can see the finish line—a strong recovery. This approach is especially true for large subcontractors and specialty-trade contractors that endured the “summer of recovery” in 2010, which never materialized, the planned rebound in 2011, which failed to gain traction, and a hoped-for election-year bounce throughout 2012, which barely registered. Like a marathon runner trudging to the end of an exhausting race, the industry is searching for the end of the downturn.”

As a whole, the construction industry (residential and nonresidential) went into recession a year and a half before the overall economy and still hasn’t emerged from it. Times have been tough, and construction spending reached a 12-year low in 2012, according to Ken Simonson, Chief Economist at American General Contractors of America (AGC).

MB HAYNES is proud and honored to be ranked at 223 in the nation.
